This Week's Reflection on The Art of Interviews
From my last post, I talked about the different strategies that make a good interview, and this week I finally had the chance to apply them. Using what I learned from Chris Schaefbauer’s talk about interviewing, I tried to be more intentional and flexible in my conversations. I focused on how I framed my questions, avoided leading language, and gave people space to think and respond naturally.
Putting these techniques into practice helped me realize that interviewing is just as much about listening as it is about asking questions. When I gave people time to pause and reflect, their answers became more thoughtful and detailed. I also began to understand that good interviewing is not just about gathering information, but about connecting with people and learning from their real experiences.
Overall, applying these skills made me feel more confident and aware of how structure, tone, and empathy can shape the quality of an interview. I’m excited to keep building on this and continue improving in future conversations.
